Candle Care & Product Safety
At Serenique Scents, our products are created with intention—and how you care for them enhances their beauty, longevity, and your overall experience. This guide is here to help you get the most from your candles and room & linen sprays, safely, mindfully, and beautifully.
Signature Candle Care
Your flame deserves just as much care as your calm.
Our soy wax candles are hand-poured in small batches using clean-burning fragrance oils and cotton wicks. A little care goes a long way in creating a safe, luxurious experience every time you light them.
Your flame is a moment of calm. Treat it with care.
Please follow these important tips to ensure safe use and an optimal experience:
Before You Light
Trim the wick to ¼ inch before every burn. A trimmed wick ensures a clean, steady flame and prevents excess soot, flickering, or uneven burning.
Let the wax melt edge to edge during the first burn (usually 2–3 hours). This prevents tunneling and helps your candle burn evenly every time.
Keep your candle free of debris. Remove any wick trimmings, matches, or dust before lighting.
While Burning
Always burn within sight. Never leave a candle unattended. Extinguish all candles before leaving a room or going to sleep. Ensure the wick is no longer glowing.
Keep away from anything flammable. Do not burn near furniture, drapes, bedding, books, paper, decorations, or other combustible materials.
Keep candles away from drafts. Avoid vents, fans, open windows, and breezy areas. Air currents can cause uneven burning, sooting, or flare-ups.
Place candles on a heat-resistant, stable surface and ensure they are at least 3 inches apart from one another when burning multiple candles.
Keep out of reach of children and pets. Candle flames and hot wax can cause burns or injury.
Burn Time & Safety Limits
Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Burning beyond this can overheat the glass and shorten the life of your candle.
Never touch or move a candle when the wax is melted. Allow the container to fully cool before handling.
Stop burning when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container. Burning too low can cause the vessel to overheat or break.
Extinguishing Your Candle
Use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame—never use the lid or water to extinguish.
If the candle smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high, extinguish immediately. Let it cool, trim the wick, and check for drafts before relighting.
Do not use a knife or sharp object to remove wax. This can damage or weaken the container.
Safety first, always. Flashlights are better than candles during power outages. Candles are beautiful—but not meant to replace night lights or emergency lighting.
